School Accreditation

You must attend a school that is approved by your state to provide training in the discipline you want to practice. Check with the school and the state board to be sure that your program of study will prepare you for any applicable state licensure.

West Virginia Esthetician Licensing

To enroll in a West Virginia esthetics education program, students must:

– be at least 18 years old
– have a high school diploma or GED
– or if they have less education, they must pass the “Ability to Benefit” test provided by the US Department of Education

The West Virginia State Board of Barbers and Cosmetologists does not offer the option to train as an apprentice esthetician rather than attend classes.
