School Accreditation

You must attend a school that is approved by your state to provide training in the discipline you want to practice. Check with the school and the state board to be sure that your program of study will prepare you for any applicable state licensure.

The first thing you need to do is find a school that offers training in your area. You want to choose your school carefully and be sure to compare multiple programs.

Since you will literally be working within arms reach of your customers, you can enjoy personable communication with your clientele. If you have a social personality, becoming a nail technician can be a great way for you to let your personality shine through your work!

We work with several schools that can help you take the next step. Simply request information from schools in your area to learn more about their programs. Good luck as you continue your journey toward a new career in the beauty industry!

Nail Technician Licensing in Ohio

Here are the requirements to become a manicurist in the Buckeye State:

– You must be at least 16 years old
– You must have a minimum of a10th grade education
– You must have attended nail school at least 200 hours

Ohio cosmetology licenses are valid for two years. In order to keep your license current, you have to have 8 hours of continuing education per renewal period, and you must follow a series of steps. First, you have to get a renewal form, fill it out and turn it in. Then you have to pay a fee and provide proof of your continuing education hours. License renewals must be done by January 31 during odd-numbered years like 2011 and 2013.

If you are looking to start your own business, you will also need to keep a few things in mind. Home salons are legal, as long as they meet the state requirements, so make sure you do your research on that. Mobile salons, however, are not legal in Ohio. And, of course, you have to have a licensed manicurist present for each salon as a manager.
