You must attend a school that is approved by your state to provide training in the discipline you want to practice. Check with the school and the state board to be sure that your program of study will prepare you for any applicable state licensure.

In Maine, cosmetology instructor training courses will be roughly 1,000 hours and should be completed in no less than six months.  As a cosmetology instructor, your main goal will be to prepare students to pass the state board exam and during your training you will be given instruction on how to do this most effectively.
