Georgia Licensing Requirements

The Georgia State Board of Cosmetology issues licenses to students meeting the course requirements and passing the state licensing examination. Cosmetologist—1,500 hours of class study must be reinforced with 3,000 hours of apprenticeship.

Nail Technician—525 hours of class study must be reinforced with 1,050 hours of apprenticeship.
People who have qualified in other states or countries that extend reciprocity to Georgia’s cosmetology graduates and have similar requirements for qualifying may receive a license by paying the appropriate fee without taking the examination.
