Completing a cosmetology instructor program takes about three to six months in Florida. Nationally, the BLS states that the average salary for vocational educational instructors is about $52,770 a year. In Florida, the BLS states that this figure is slightly higher at $57,210 a year. There are over 6,250 vocational educational teachers in Florida, but the BLS does not state how many of these individuals are cosmetology instructors. As a cosmetology instructor, you can find job opportunities in salons or in cosmetology schools within the state. A salon may wish to hire you to conduct seminars in the community for promotional purposes. In a cosmetology program, you would be allowed to teach as many courses as you wish.
