The Alabama Board of Cosmetology and Barbering requires licensees to renew by the last day of their birth month in every odd-numbered year. Currently, the renewal fee for a personal license is $80.

No continuing education units are required at this time, but you may find that continuing education is an important part of keeping your skills up-to-date. Even if the state of Alabama does not require you to earn continuing education units, your employer may expect you to attend training seminars and events.
